CTF Helps City of Winnipeg with "Storage Issues"

Author: Colin Craig 2010/07/05

According to the City of Winnipeg (see today's Winnipeg Sun article), a "storage issue" is preventing them from keeping staff salary disclosure reports on the internet for multiple years.

Known as Compensation Disclosure reports, the City is required by the Province to produce a report each year that lists the names of employees who received over $50,000. While the City deserves credit for posting the document online (just like the Province does), why is it that they can keep an online archive for other financial reports on the internet but not for compensation disclosure reports?

Regardless, we'll accept that they are having a "storage issue" in the short term and will give them a helping hand by posting the 2008 Compensation Disclosure report (click here) and the 2009 Compensation Disclosure report (click here) for all to see.

As you can imagine, a quick comparison between the documents shows salaries are skyrocketing once again down at City Hall. Yes, despite what we hear from City Hall all the time about not having any money to fix our roads, there always seems to be plenty of funds around for generous pay increases for staff.

More analysis to come...

PS - thanks to a "little bird," who emailed me the 2008 report after seeing a Twitter post on the matter.

UPDATE - I just scanned a copy of the 2007 Compensation Disclosure report - CLICK HERE to view it part A and HERE to view part B.
