The Canadian Taxpayers Federation is applauding the Ford government’s decision to scrap license plate sticker fees.
“Ontarians desperately need relief from the soaring cost of living and today the Ford government announced some relief by ending fees for licence plate stickers,” said Jay Goldberg, Ontario CTF Director. “This is a great first step and Ontario taxpayers are looking forward to additional relief when Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy introduces his budget next month.”
The government of Ontario plans to eliminate license sticker fees and will offer refunds to those who have purchased licence plate stickers since March of 2020.
The Ford government’s announcement will leave $1 billion in the hands of hardworking Ontario taxpayers.
“It’s great to see the Ford government finally deliver on lowering costs for Ontario taxpayers, but the Ford government needs to keep going,” said Goldberg. “Ontario taxpayers are still waiting for lower gas and income taxes and expect the Ford government to deliver on those longstanding commitments in its March budget.”
