Canadian Taxpayers Federation Reacts to Joint Federal-Ontario Corporate Welfare Announcement

Author: Aaron Wudrick 2017/01/09

OTTAWA, ON: The Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) Federal Director Aaron Wudrick released the following statement in response to today’s joint Federal-Ontario announcement regarding Honda:

“This egregious example of corporate welfare is a massive waste of taxpayer dollars. Honda turned a global profit of US$2.8 billion in 2015. If they want Canadians’ money, they can earn it by selling their products – rather than using the federal and Ontario governments as their pawns to pilfer it from taxpayers.

The federal and Ontario governments are both running large deficits and saddling future generations with billions in debt, yet they can still find $83 million to hand over to corporate executives? Powerful special interests appear to be calling the shots, while everyday taxpayers end up stuck with the bill.”
