The Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) has filed a complaint with the province’s Information and Privacy Commissioner after being refused details from the Saskatoon Health Region on whether or not the Starbucks it operates is making money.
“The Saskatoon Health Region has been operating a Starbucks since 2004,” said CTF Prairie Director Colin Craig. “Knowing that other hospitals in Canada have lost money running Tim Hortons and other typically profitable ventures, we wanted to know if the Saskatoon Health Region has been subsidizing Vanilla Spice Frappuccinos.”
“It’s not acceptable for the health region to refuse such basic information,” added Craig. “It’s not like we’re asking for confidential recipes.”
