CTF urges government to explore more partnerships for government services
The Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) applauded the Saskatchewan government's new CT scan contract today, noting it will provide patients with more timely access to health care services at a lower cost.
“By partnering with the private sector, the government is not only reducing wait times for patients, it is reducing costs for taxpayers,” said CTF Prairie Director Colin Craig.
The contract is expected to save taxpayers $2.6 million, or approximately 21 per cent less than the cost of the government to provide the same service.
"Faster service at a lower cost, you can't argue with that approach. It's time for the government to explore even more partnerships,” added Craig.

In addition to supporting the exploration of partnerships for health services, the CTF has called on the government to allow the private sector to offer the same services provided by the public system. Doing so would not only keep more money in Saskatchewan (instead of people flying to the U.S. for health care), it would help take the some of the strain off the public system.
