After the CTF released details about Red River College's President being allowed to expense bills from a pre-wedding event (held the day before someone at another post-secondary institution was married), I filed an information request with the provincial government.
In short, I asked what documents the Minister of Education's office had on the college president's expenses?
One of the documents we received was a copy of one political staffer forwarding our news release about the wedding expense to others along with the single sentence "This is going to be a problem....."
But the question I still have is "what is the government doing about the problem?"
Multiple times now expenses have been repaid at the College only after the CTF investigated things. While we do what we can as a taxpayers' watchdog group to look into tips from whistleblowers, the college's board needs to take a more disciplined approach to what it allows as expenses in the first place.
