Research Director

The Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF), Canada’s leading non-partisan, not-for-profit citizens’ advocacy group dedicated to lower taxes, less waste and accountable government has an opening for the position of Research Director.

Job Description

Working out of our federal office in beautiful downtown Ottawa, the Research Director will report to the CTF’s Federal and Ontario Director. The Research Director is the CTF’s principal researcher in the Ottawa office, in charge of putting together reports on and background information for major CTF events like the Teddy Waste Awards, Gas Tax Honesty Day and New Year’s Tax Changes.

The Research Director is also in charge of keeping our Tax Facts and other federal government fiscal statistics updated on a regular basis, as well as writing a regular column for our magazine, The Taxpayer. The Research Director will also be assigned a wide variety of research related tasks by the Federal and Ontario Director.

The director should have experience in politics or public policy related research work. A working knowledge of spreadsheet software is a must. A degree in political science, commerce, economics, mathematics, library science or related field is an asset. Experience with media, public speaking, writing and campaign organization is also an asset, but not a requirement.

The director must be a flexible and creative individual, prepared to work long hours and take initiative in a dynamic and often unpredictable work environment. Above all, the director must be enthusiastic and committed to the mission of the CTF.

So, if you’re a big fan of big government and think that $16 for a glass of orange juice sounds like a heckuva deal, don’t bother applying.

Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
