BC: No Pension for Ben Stewart

Author: Jordan Bateman 2013/06/06

Westside-Kelowna MLA Ben Stewart stepped aside yesterday to open up a by-election for Premier Christy Clark to run in. We've had several emails about wwhat perks Stewart is eligible for. The answer: none. From the Times Colonist:

Stewart, first elected in 2009, hasn’t served long enough to earn an MLA pension. Nor is he eligible for a 15 month “transitional allowance” of his MLA salary because he is resigning. He is, however, quite wealthy through land and business holdings.
