It should be noted that these numbers do not include the $9,000 training allowance MLAs are eligible to receive, nor the 15 months of severance pay (Up to $127,323 each – this can be less if “topping up” a salary lower than the MLA minimum).
- Bill Bennett (BC Liberal MLA, East Kootenay, 16 years) – Year 1 pension payout: $83,504. Lifetime total to age 80: $1.23m. Lifetime payout slightly lower as he will be 67 at retirement.
- Jenny Kwan (NDP MLA, Vancouver-Mount Pleasant, 19 years) – Year 1 pension payout: $75,820. Lifetime total to age 80: $1.3m. Left in 2015 to run for federal office.
- Norm Macdonald (NDP MLA, Columbia River-Revelstoke, 12 years) – Year 1 pension payout: $47,550. Lifetime total to age 80: $822,301.
- Don McRae (BC Liberal MLA, Comox Valley, 8 years) – Year 1 pension payout: $41,285. Lifetime total to age 80: $713,958.
- Moira Stilwell (BC Liberal MLA, Vancouver-Langara, 8 years) – Year 1 pension payout: $35,165. Lifetime total to age 80: $608,123.
- Pat Pimm (BC Liberal MLA, North Peace, 8 years) – Year 1 pension payout: $33,455. Lifetime total to age 80: $578,551.
- Kathy Corrigan (NDP MLA, Burnaby-Deer Lake, 8 years) – Year 1 pension payout: $30,385. Lifetime total to age 80: $525,461.
- Doug Horne (BC Liberal MLA, Coquitlam-Burke Mountain, 6 years) – Year 1 pension payout: $27,251. Lifetime total to age 80: $471,262. Left in 2015 to run for federal office.
