BC: A Few More Thoughts on the Vyas Report and MoE Review

Author: Jordan Bateman 2014/05/09

A few more thoughts on the Vyas report review….

  • Good point in Tristan Hopper’s National Post story: the contract wasn’t for $16,000 – it was for $19,075, as airfare and some accommodation came on top of the cash.
  • No reprimand or discipline for Superintendent of Achievement Rick Davis. But an interesting point in Amy Smart’s Times Colonist report: Davis retires next month and will leave government.
  • The government official who should be apologizing to Anjali Vyas for any negative comments she has been subjected to isn’t Peter Fassbender – it’s Rick Davis for putting her in this position. Of course, he’s in hiding.
  • And where, precisely, is the apology to B.C. taxpayers for wasting this $19,075?

One more important point: you can’t file Freedom of Information requests to find out what goes through people’s heads when they hand out $19,075 contracts to 17-year-olds. But Davis should be made available to the media for questions – that’s the final piece of this effort.
