BC Hydro Sick Days Below Government Average

Author: Jordan Bateman 2013/09/23

The numbers are back from a Freedom of Information request to BC Hydro, asking about sick days at the Crown corporation. And the numbers are pretty good.

Hydro reports employees took an average of 7.14 sick days each in 2013 (for reference, that’s a total of 40,714.29 days off). That’s right around their three year average – 6.8 in 2012, and 7.23 in 2011.

One wonders how BC Hydro staff take two full less sick days a year than the core BC Government – and five less than the average government worker in B.C. I guess Hydro workers are just heartier than some of their government colleagues.
