TORONTO, ON: The Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) is concluding a cross-province tour with a satirical moving company, called the “Kathleen Wynne Moving Company,” with a stop at Queen’s Park.

The campaign has featured a 16-foot moving truck emblazoned with the words “Kathleen Wynne’s Moving Company – Helping Businesses and Families Leave Ontario,” which has visited cities across Ontario. The focus of the campaign is how government policies like high electricity costs, cap-and-trade, corporate welfare and rapid changes to labour laws are making Ontario unaffordable.

“There is a serious affordability crisis in Ontario, with businesses across the province telling us they will no longer invest in the province, and news stories every week about companies closing up shop,” said CTF Ontario Director, Christine Van Geyn. “Sometimes the best way to bring attention to a serious issue is some biting satire, and that’s why we started the ‘Kathleen Wynne Moving Company’.”

The tour started at a factory Richmond Hill, and then travelled to Peterborough, Brockville, Parry Sound, North Bay and Sudbury. The second week of the tour focused on southwestern Ontario, including Kitchener, Sarnia, London, Woodstock, Chatham-Kent and Windsor.

“The reaction to our truck has been incredible. People honk and wave at us on the highway, they have followed us to our stops so they could talk to us and take photos of the truck, and we’ve had people high five us in Tim Hortons. People living across the province have seen how much the cost of living and cost of doing business has increased over the years, and they really appreciate us delivering this message to the government.”

During the tour, hundreds of post-cards pre-addressed to the premier were handed out, along with “Wynne’s Moving Company T-Shirts.”
