Tim grew up near Lloydminster, Saskatchewan where the values of hard work and fiscal responsibility were cornerstones to success on the family farm. After earning an Economics degree from the University of Victoria, he returned to the family farm, founded and operated an oilfield services company and a cattle operation. As a business owner who felt Saskatchewan was not reaching its potential, he pursued a seat in the Saskatchewan Legislature. In 2007, Tim was elected as a Saskatchewan Party MLA in the riding of Lloydminster. In his time in government Tim held several strategic Cabinet Portfolios, including Minister of Energy and Resources, and Minister of Rural and Remote Health. In 2014, Tim joined the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producer (CAPP) as President and CEO. Tim led the industry association in its broad range of advocacy efforts across the country through some on the most tumultuous times the industry has faced for over 7 years, retiring from the role in 2022.

In his current role as a founding partner at Garrison Strategy, Tim draws upon this experience in public policy and as an experienced communicator to achieve results for his clients. Tim believes governments are never as effective at spending our hard earned money as we are and fiscal restraint is a virtue we must celebrate when we see it and call out when we don’t.

Tim and his wife Ali and two daughters live in Calgary, and he sits on several not-for-profit boards and fundraising committees.
