Subsidies pulled from Winnipeg Boat Tour

Thumbs Down for Manitoba Olympic Pavilion

Visitors are giving low marks to the Manitoba Pavilion at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. Attendance is low, yet organizers insist the venue is exceeding expectations. Colin Craig of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation says someone has to be held accountable for this disaster. "Amazing! There's a beach in Manitoba," said one person of the computer display. Winnipeg firefighters get $2M for unused sick days

Winnipeg firefighters have a $27 million liability in unpaid sick leave, all of which can be collected when firefighters retire. Already this costs Winnipeg taxpayers $2 million annually. Prairie Director Colin Craig calls on the City of Winnipeg to take out this provision. The city is currently negotiating a new contract with firefighters, since the old one expired on December 31.
