WINNIPEG: The Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) responded to the dome feasibility study today by renewing its call for public input before tax dollars are used to build a new domed stadium in Regina. The CTF is asking the province to let taxpayers decide between funding a new $430 million dome and fixing up Mosaic Stadium for $6 million.
“$430 million is a lot of money, especially considering the government is trying to stave-off a deficit,” said CTF Prairie Director Colin Craig. “All Saskatchewan taxpayers should have the right to decide between building a new $430 million dome and fixing up Mosaic Stadium for $6 million. After all, unlike health care and education, building a football dome is a luxury project.”
The CTF previously released documents which show Mosaic Stadium could last for another ten years by spending just $6 million. By introducing a per ticket fee of just $2.50 a game, those who attend Rider games could pay for the repairs.

The federal government is adding $88 million a day to our debt. At this rate, the $105-billion in debt repayment between 1997 – 2008 will be wiped out this year. Support our campaign for a federal balanced budget law and help us STOP this clock.
