Stop the Ontario Debt Clock
To Dalton McGuinty, Tim Hudak & Andrea Horwath:
Ontario’s total debt has increased by $110 billion since the current government came to power and is projected to reach $258 billion by the end of this fiscal year. By the end of 2012, Premier McGuinty’s government will have doubled Ontario’s debt. Unless we reverse course and cut spending, our province’s finances will face a crisis as they did in the early 1990s.
After facing a long list of tax hikes since 2003, the answer lies not in yet higher taxes, but in cutting spending.
We, the undersigned, call on the leaders of Ontario’s main political parties to balance the budget by cutting spending and not by further raising taxes.
