Back to Black
To Premier McGuinty:
After only 3 years of surpluses and minor debt reduction, 2008-09 saw the Ontario government return to spending more than it earns - deficit financing. Budget 2009 has lain the groundwork for the largest deficit in Ontario history. The deficit is projected to exceed $18 billion in 2009-10 alone, with no end in sight. It is so bad that bond-rating agencies have issued a warning about the debt level.
We the undersigned call on the provincial government to:
Balance the budget and pass balanced budget legislation, guaranteeing balanced budgets except during times of war or natural disaster.
