The big surprise is a big rate hike that could come to your hydro bill.
We say “could” because there’s still time to prevent it.
As you can see from the video above, the NDP government plans on making Manitoba Hydro build a new major power line that’s 500kms longer than necessary.
Because their plan for a west side route is longer, it will cost ratepayers about $1 billion more than the shorter east side route...not to mention the additional environmental damage a longer line causes!
Politicians always bicker...and they’re bickering about this issue too. But when you watch the clip above, ask yourself why so many retired Manitoba Hydro executives are speaking out? Why are respected university professors and former deans speaking out?
Because political pride is standing in the way of reversing a poor decision.
The Canadian Taxpayers Federation is part of the Bipole III Coalition, a group of retired Manitoba Hydro executives, University professors, concerned land owners and ratepayers that support the shorter, east side line. To visit the coalition’s web site – click here.

Canada's Federal Debt

The federal government is adding $88 million a day to our debt. At this rate, the $105-billion in debt repayment between 1997 – 2008 will be wiped out this year. Support our campaign for a federal balanced budget law and help us STOP this clock.
