News Release:"No Money for New Spending" Tour Launched
Manitoba's debt is increasing at $50 per second or roughly $4.3 million per day.
With a debt level now over $13 billion, our province is swimming in the red and has no savings to address significant challenges on the horizon.
An aging population, skyrocketing health care costs, civil servants retiring and drawing on pension plans that aren’t funded and our reliance on financial aid from other provinces are just a few challenges we need to prepare for.
Borrowed time and borrowed money is not a plan for economic prosperity. Clearly, now is the time to get spending under control, so that important services are there when we need them.
And don't believe the rhetoric about how hard it will be to cut spending. Provincial spending has been increasing at more than double the rate of inflation over the last decade, even when taking population growth into consideration.
Manitoba taxpayers are getting a raw deal. It's time taxpayers told our politicians "NO MORE reckless spending!"
