MP's family has him flying high

Russ Hiebert and family

Russ Hiebert, the Conservative MP for South Surrey -- White Rock -- Cloverdale, spent $637,093 on expenses during the 2008-09 fiscal year, much of it due to flight costs to take his wife and two children back and forth from Ottawa to home and to his other engagements during the six months of the year Parliament was in session.

re:

Who are we without our family? Life would be much wasted if one doesn't acknowledge his or her family worth and values. I grew up rich in love and good morals of my family doctrines.

I contacted his office and I

I contacted his office and I live in his riding.

I don't believe he will even read my email.

They employe screen readers for $50/h

Wrong target

If this is the only example of flying his family as an excess, the campaign is going to fail. We need MPs that have young families and will push for lowering costs and taxes by big government.

Gold plated pensions for politicians, civil servants would garner wider support.

Wrong Target

Recognize the fact that the mp's get a salary of $155,00 a year plus perq's. I don't think they even pay taxes.

I don't take my family to work with me and neither do most people, especially at the expense of my employer.

He defends this obscene spending using the psychology of "keeping the family together" to deflect criticisim.  It does not work with me and I am not charmed by Mr. Hiebert and by his family spending at my expense.

He has a sense of entitlement and arrogance that has brought the negative attention to himself. He is unable  to face his constituents in a mature manner.  He would rather hide.  What really is disheartening is the fact that Mr. Hiebert does not feel any shame about his excess spending on the taxpayer's back.

Martin Luther King Jr. said, The Ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience; but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.

Indeed, Mr. Hiebert has only proven that he not a statesman and should look elsewhere for employment. No-one forced this man to become an mp. He chose to do so and knew full well what he was getting into.

Really?

Above and beyond the expenses scandal I object to the MPs gluttonous pensions that they are awarded. This after a very comfortable life on the overblown pay they 'earn'. Free food, free travel, free expenses with NO audit! Now this joker Hiebert thinks he can have his cake and eat it too, free travel for wifey and kids, I should be so lucky.

They must think we are the biggest idiots in the World.

politicians, lawyers, used car salesmen

What do politicians, lawyers, used car salesmen have in common? Everything.

I contacted Mr Hiebert's

I contacted Mr Hiebert's office to express my concerns about his use of tax funds for his family's travel expenses.  His office replied that they will not respond unless I live in his riding.  Am I wrong in assuming that his expense account comes out of the national tax pool and not just his own riding?

Spending

Not bad eh - 6 months @637000.00 = 106666.00 per month = 3555.00 per day for parlimentry duty expenses. Who approves these expenses' ; these people should have thier brains checked out

Canada's Federal Debt

The federal government is adding $88 million a day to our debt. At this rate, the $105-billion in debt repayment between 1997 – 2008 will be wiped out this year. Support our campaign for a federal balanced budget law and help us STOP this clock.
