FED: Balance the Budget
The federal government has taken Canada back to the days of spending borrowed money, running the largest deficits ever. Instead of raising our taxes it is time to get spending back under control with a plan to balance the budget.
Already the federal debt is past a half-trillion dollars--a per-capita burden of more than $15,300. Visit DebtClock.ca for the current debt total, your personal share, and more background. To slow down and reverse this ticking clock, sign our petition.

Budget
It is with much dismay but no surprise that the so called Conservatives are back to running deficits. Instead of cutting spending to avoid shortfalls they have chosen the irresponisble route of augmenting our already spiraling debt. This is totally unacceptable behaviour from a party that has its roots in advocating making balanced budgets law!
No majority no balanced budget
Interesting idea demand the minority gov't balance the books without the support of any political party in the opposition. Can you list the spending cuts offered by any of the opposition parties that would lower spending?
The opposition parties want the gov't to spend more money, faster in 2009. The Bloc want a larger transfers for their special interest groups. At 145 seats the government does not have the votes to pass a balanced budget.
The gov't is ten seats short.
The $ 19 billion extra in spending is still too small for the NDP and Bloc. At least 29 Liberal MP's were not interested enough to show up to vote down the budget they don't support.
