To All Members of Parliament:
All politicians, regardless of their ethnicity, should have to disclose their salaries to the public. It is unacceptable that reserves receive taxpayer dollars, but band councils don’t have to disclose their politicians’ salaries to the public.
That is not right.
We the undersigned, urge you to bring reserve politicians in-line with all other politicians in Canada; who have to regularly disclose their pay to the public. Pay information provided by band councils to the federal government annually should be posted online. It is the first step towards improving accountability on reserves.
