Abolish the ICBC monopoly

Download pdf version

To the B.C. Legislature:

As taxpayers in British Columbia, we already insure our homes, our property, and our lives from a choice of insurance providers.

ICBC does not provide competitive insurance products for customers. B.C. has the second highest cost of auto insurance in Canada after Ontario. Ontario's private-sector provider, however, pays four times more than ICBC in claims for every dollar spent on an insurance policy. Monopoly provision of insurance in B.C. leaves consumers worse off.

In light of rising costs, rising executive bonus levels, large profits, and falling customer satisfaction levels, it is time to end the ICBC monopoly.

We the undersigned petition the Legislature to provide for free and open competition in auto insurance - and an end to the ICBC monopoly - we want a choice!

Canada's Federal Debt

The federal government is adding $135 million a day to our debt. At this rate, the $105-billion in debt repayment between 1997 – 2008 will be wiped out next year. Support our campaign for a federal balanced budget law and help us STOP this clock.
