What's going on in La Broquerie???

Those following the zany antics of the R.M. of La Broquerie might find this little nugget of interest.

In June, the Winnipeg Free Press ran a story that included allegations that many of the R.M.'s offices were hooked up with cameras and that a security company was brought in to sweep for bugs. After reading the story, I filed a freedom of information request to find out if any documentation existed that would support/discredit the claims.

Since that time, the Dauphin Trail Dispatch reported that the municipal office did indeed have a monitor in its vault that showed camera feeds from eight different locations in the building.

A response came in today for my request, but it didn't exactly shine a light on what's happening. Instead of responding to the pretty direct information request, the R.M. refused. However, instead of citing sections of the Act which allow governments use a variety of excuses to refuse the information, the R.M. cited sections which discuss the collection of personal information.

Bizarre.
